This delightful treat is a party in every bite, featuring a soft and fluffy vanilla cake base, bursting with vibrant rainbow sprinkles, and topped with a sweet, creamy glaze. Perfect for celebrations or a cheerful pick-me-up
*Ingredients:*
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1/4 cup rainbow sprinkles
*For the Glaze:*
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1-2 tablespoons milk
- Extra rainbow sprinkles for topping
Preheat your mini donut maker or oven (if using a mini donut pan, set to 350°F).
In a bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, whisk together milk, vanilla extract, egg, and melted butter.
Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until just mixed. Fold in the 1/4 cup of rainbow sprinkles.
Fill each donut indentation in your maker or pan about halfway with the batter.
Bake for 4-6 minutes in the donut maker or 8-10 minutes in the oven, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Allow the donuts to cool slightly before removing them
Bright sweet taste glaze topper
Mix powdered sugar with 1 tablespoon of milk at a time until you reach a thick yet pourable consistency.
Dip the top of each donut into the glaze, then return to the cooling rack.
Sprinkle with more rainbow sprinkles immediately before the glaze sets.
- Sifting the flour before measuring can lead to a lighter, more consistent donut texture.
- The baking powder acts as the leavening agent, giving the donuts their rise, so ensure it's fresh for the best results.
- When mixing wet and dry ingredients, do so until just combined to avoid overworking the batter, which can make the donuts tough.
- Be gentle when folding in the sprinkles to prevent them from bleeding their color into the batter.
- If using a donut pan in the oven, grease it well to ensure easy removal of the donuts after baking.
- A piping bag or a ziplock bag with a corner cut off can be used for a neater and more precise way to fill the donut indents with batter.
- Keep an eye on the donuts as they bake. Mini donuts cook quickly, and overbaking can dry them out.
- Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. This helps them set and makes them easier to handle.
- Ensure the donuts are cool before glazing to prevent the glaze from melting off.
- If the glaze is too thin, add more powdered sugar. If it's too thick, add more milk, a little at a time, until you reach the desired consistency.
- After dipping in glaze, let the donuts sit for the glaze to harden slightly, which will give them a nice sheen and a better texture.
